Yes, according to Victorian Law it is mandatory for pool and spa owners to both register their pool or spa with the relevant council and have the safety barrier inspected and certified every 4 years.

The law applies to swimming pools and spas that are capable of holding more than 300mm (30cm) or water, and includes permanent pools, above ground pools, indoor pools, hot tubs, bathing or wading pools and some relocatable pools.

We offer the solution to getting your swimming pool or spa barrier certified in 3 easy steps:

One of our fully trained and qualified, VBA registered inspectors will come out to your house to inspect your pool or spa barrier. You will either be issued with your form 23 certificate of barrier compliance within 24 hours if your pool barrier is compliant or be issued with a notice of rectification if your barrier is non-compliant.

If your pool or spa barrier requires rectification works to meet Victorian law, our team will manage all works required via our extensive network of trusted tradespeople.

Once rectification works are complete, our inspector will return to your home for a final inspection. You will then be issued with a form 23 certificate of barrier compliance within 24 hours, ready for you to lodge with your local council.

A certificate of barrier compliance is only valid for 30 days from the date it is issued. It must be lodged with the relevant council within this timeframe.

If the certificate is not lodged within 30 days, a further inspection must be carried out and a new certificate issued and lodged with the relevant council.

No, the council does not allow us to lodge your form 23 certificate of barrier compliance on your behalf. You must take care of lodging the certificate with your local council yourself. You will receive your certificate and lodgement instructions via email and you are welcome to call us should you require further guidance.

If your swimming pool or spa barrier does not meet safety guidelines and you do not complete rectification works to meet Victorian law, your local council will issue you with a certificate of barrier non-compliance and request a fee upwards of $385 depending on which council you reside in.

Your initial inspection costs $380. This is all you will pay if your swimming pool or spa barrier is deemed compliant.

If rectification works are required, we will obtain quotes on your behalf from our trusted network of tradespeople.

The cost for a final inspection following completion of rectification works is a further $200.

We provide you with the option of being invoiced with payment due within 14 days, or payment on the day. Our inspectors carry a remote payment system with them should you like to pay via Eftpos or credit card on the day of inspection.
